In this episode, we are going to do something different. We are going to recap our favourite episodes over the past 12 months. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since we relaunched our podcast show Thrive by Additive-Free Lifestyle. Time flies when you’re having fun, right? So sit back, relax and enjoy as we reminisce the episodes that have impacted us the most.

Jo’s Favorite Episodes

Let’s check out Jo’s faves from the past 12 months…

Podcast 186 – Avoiding Aluminium: Protecting Our Health in a Toxic World

We dive into where it can be found (spoiler alert – it’s not just in personal care products, it’s also used in food 😱) and cover all the known harmful effects to our health. The response we received to this episode was incredible! Who knew that something we encounter so often could be so harmful?

Podcast 189 – (Part 1) The Lymph Connection: Exploring the Network of Your Health with Chelsey Jean

Podcast 190 – (Part 2) The Lymph Connection: Exploring the Network of Your Health with Chelsey Jean

This was a two-part series, with Chelsey Jean on the lymphatic system. Chelsey is a Sports Therapist, Naturopathic Practitioner, and the creator of the Advanced Natural Health Clinic and her own label of products.

These episodes were mind-blowing! It’s astounding how little we’re taught about our bodies from a young age. Understanding the lymphatic system – its role in our health, fluid retention, and even emotions – is fundamental, and yet so many of us grow up unaware of it.

Podcast 230 – Toxic Chemicals to Look Out For in Activewear

Ok… so disclaimer… the link to the episode above won’t work until after the episode drops on Friday 19 April.

In this episode we interviewed Kylie Anderson from FOHER Co., about chemicals in activewear. It’s an eye-opener about what we put on our skin and a reminder to be more conscious consumers. This episode isn’t just informative; it’s a call to action to question and understand what goes into the making of our clothes.

Tracey’s Favorite Episodes

Let’s now check out Tracey’s faves from the past 12 months…

Podcast 201 – Part One: Ayurvedic Bliss: Navigating Perimenopause & Menopause

Podcast 202 – Part Two: Ayurvedic Bliss: Navigating Perimenopause & Menopause

In these episodes, we delved into menopause and perimenopause from an Ayurvedic perspective with the wonderful Jody Vassallo.  Jody is a cookbook author, publisher, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Counsellor, Yoga Teacher, and Tilba Chai maker.

This is an enlightening approach to a topic that’s often shrouded in mystery. Neither of us had even heard of perimenopause growing up, which is so sad because it’s a vital part of life we go through and that we should be educated on.  There really is so much to learn.

Podcast 204 – From Chronic to Cured with Terese Millhouse

Terese’s story is about resilience and the impact of emotional stress on health. Having through so much emotional turmoil including the loss of her husband at a young age, she is truly inspiring and a testament to the human spirit’s strength in the face of adversity.

Podcast 210 – Navigating Picky Eaters: Part One

Podcast 211 – Navigating Picky Eaters: Part Two

These episodes are a deep dive into family eating habits and nutrition. So if you’ve got kids and you’re worried about their food habits, or you just want to explore new options with them, this is a must-listen episode. It goes beyond dealing with fussiness, focusing on creating positive, healthy eating environments for our families.
