Chicken Bone Broth is so incredibly good for you, it costs pretty much nothing to make and is EASY! It’s like one of the easiest things you’ll ever make so I challenge you, give it a try!
Here’s what I do:
1. I purchase a whole chicken and make slow cooked chicken from it. I then keep all the liquid and bones and make broth with that said liquid and bones. I have a very basic Facebook Live video on how to do this which you can view here.
OR
2. I purchase bones like chicken carcass, chicken wings, chicken necks and make my broth with those.
OR
3. I roast a whole chicken in the oven and keep all the bones. I sometimes freeze these bones if I’m not going to make broth straight away (as per video below).
How can I use this broth?
We like to use it as a stock for all our soups. It makes our soups so much better, plus the goodness is out of this world. We also like to poach eggs in it, use as a base for frying off some onions or mushrooms and I replace my water for broth when making risottos. You may like to check out our pumpkin soup recipe.
You may also like to use a few spoons in some spaghetti bolognese or a stirfry. It’s also great to drink on its own in a mug on a cold day.
Why is it so good for me?
Bone Broth is incredibly good for your gut. If you’ve got a cold or fighting that winter flu you need to make some of this stuff. It will help fight any illness and reduce inflammation.
Here’s a great blog post I found, it’s really informative and an easy read.
We would absolutely love you to leave us a comment below and let everyone know what you think. It’s comments like this that make our day, and help us improve a recipe if we need to. We look forward to reading what you think!

If you use frozen cooked bones to make stock, then freeze your stock, then cook soup, is this safe to reheat? Just trying to understand safety of how many steps the meat has been through.
Hi Julia
You can cook frozen meat and fish once defrosted, and then refreeze them. You can re-freeze cooked meat and fish generally once, as long as they have been cooled before going into the freezer. If in doubt, don’t re-freeze.

I grown up with grandparents serving broth as a starter to quite literally every main meal. To the point that as kids, we never wanted to see another bowl of soup. It’s definitely gotten lost along the way. Something to be said for our old timers ways.
I’ve always got broth in my freezer but I only dish it up in colder months and certainly not daily..
