Who doesn’t love a takeaway on a Friday night, especially after a busy week? It’s so easy to swing past that drive-through and grab a burger and chips. Everyone is happy… for an hour or so. But then it all turns to custard: kids are fighting, you are grumpy and tired, and everyone is hungry again…and it’s only been an hour since you ate, say what!!!

Does this sound like your family, it was certainly ours once upon a time. But after learning about ingredients (and reactions) we can make much better choices when it comes to the food we eat, and after listening to this podcast, we are sure you will want to avoid them as well.

What EXACTLY is in that burger? Let’s check it out…

We hear all the time, the common misconceptions “but you ate it as a kid and you turned out fine” or “it can’t be that bad, it has been around for years.” But have a really good think about that…the food you eat today, were your parents eating it, or your grandparents, probably not!

Tracey can distinctly remember the first time she had McDonalds, because it didn’t exist in Burnie till she was around 11. So we call BS on some of those misconceptions. NO, we didn’t grow up on it. NO, we didn’t eat it all the time. NO, our parents and grandparents didn’t either. A lot of the food we eat today did not exist 50 years ago, it is as simple as that.

Back to the burger. A lot of these ingredients are linked to mood swings, hyperactivity, headaches and skin irritations. Then there are the links to cancer, diabetes, obesity and a range of other, just as serious, health issues plaguing society today. We are so passionate about sharing this info. It is easy to swap it up, or at least reduce your toxic overload.

Here’s the thing, there is no reason to drop those treat days, you just need to explore much better options, and trust us, they are out there. Your body and mind will thank you for it.

Another tip and something that we do all the time is if you’re cooking on the weekend, or any day you feel like you have time, make sure to double it and freeze. This saves the pain of ‘what am I going to cook tonight”

This episode is a bit of a reality check for where we are heading as a nation, and the levels of behavioural issues and diseases being diagnosed to school children, cancer rates, diabetes, obesity and even depression, all of these illnesses that are prevalent in today’s society leads us back to the product and food that we put on and inside our body.

You need to be aware of what is going on within your body, just be mindful of what you are eating, embrace it, don’t be scared of it.

Always remember, it doesn’t have to be a perfect choice, it’s all about making the best choices we can, on any given day!
