As small business owners ourselves, we know how important it is to support small businesses, especially when you consider how many small businesses are closing or have closed these days.

There are so many ways to support the small guy, but quite literally, the easiest and most effective is to purchase their products.

Think of your local places that sell:

👉🏻 Clothes/hats/scarves/beanies
👉🏻 Homewares
👉🏻 Giftware/jewellery/pottery
👉🏻 Hampers/chocolates
👉🏻 Cosmetics
👉🏻 Skincare/bodycare

Or what about those that provide a service such as:

👉🏻 Beauty salon
👉🏻 Day spa
👉🏻 Hairdresser
👉🏻 Florist
👉🏻 Massage
👉🏻 Restaurant/Cafe
👉🏻 Fitness/owner-operated gyms

Over the years I have purchased PT sessions, massage vouchers, day spa vouchers, salon vouchers, even a movie ticket and dinner at a local restaurant. I love giving experiences to people that otherwise wouldn’t do those things for themselves.

Last year my kids all chipped in and got us a voucher at Pumphouse Point (we then added the rest 😝 ). It was amazing and such a great experience, one of the best gifts to support the local economy.

It is very easy to shop online, we get it, but helping keep small businesses alive is literally the backbone of the economy…let’s do all we can to support these guys!

If you do want to shop online then consider places like ETSY or businesses you know are local. Personally, I have asked for a handmade wooden essential oil stand that I saw online, made by an Aussie family, so fingers crossed that is heading my way.

For more ideas of great small businesses to shop with this Christmas, check out our discount and affiliates codes page* HERE where you will be able to get some great gifts and a cheeky discount for you too.

Another place to look is your local markets and stalls, we are lucky here in Hobart as Salamanca Market is ah-mazing, just saying!

And we haven’t even mentioned DIY – but you can make so many amazing things that are easily as good, if not better than the bought versions. Bath salts, body scrubs, pure-fumes, chocolates etc. Check out this webinar we hosted with a few of our doTERRA friends – so many amazing gift ideas that will blow your mind.

Anyway, we hope this has given you a few ideas and things to think about this gift-giving season (but also for all future gift-giving reasons).

Have the happiest and safest Christmas
Love and light to you all
