This Marble Cake is great to make with the kids because it’s FUN! You can use any colour you like, but we love plain, chocolate, and purple because purple is Eva’s favourite colour (of course).
You can find the most amazing all-natural food colours made with real food out there and there are some bright and colourful all-natural 100 & 1000s too!

Ingredients
- 260 g self-raising flour
- 130 g sugar (white or caster)
- 120 g milk of choice
- 2 egg
- 100 g butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla bean paste
- natural food colouring
- 2 tsp. cacao powder
- 2 tsp. milk of choice
Instructions
Thermal Cooking Method
- Preheat oven to 160ºC. Grease and line a 20 cm cake tin.
- Place flour, sugar, milk, eggs, softened butter and vanilla into mixing jug and beat 10 seconds/speed 4. Scrape down sides and repeat for a further 20 seconds/speed 4. Divide this mixture equally between 3 separate bowls.
- In one bowl mix in cacao powder and extra milk. In another bowl mix in food colour of choice. Leave the third bowl plain.
- Place dollops of each mixture into cake tin. A random pattern works fine.
- Bake in oven for approx. 35-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
- Leave to cool for 5 minutes in tin before turning out onto wire rack to cool completely.
- Ice with our basic icing recipe.
