It is so easy to make your own face scrubs, we have been doing this for years now, and each time we add a different oil. In fact, that is probably the best thing about making your own, you can adapt them to suit your current needs (which let’s face it, can change during the course of a month).

I have used doTERRA essential oils to make my scrub and I urge you to ensure you use something as pure as these when making yours. If you want to get these oils in your life, check out the instructions on our website to join and SAVE.

Oils I used were:
Sandalwood – Is very beneficial to the skin; it can help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and it promotes a healthy, smooth complexion.
Frankincense – It’s soothing and beautifying properties are used to rejuvenate skin and help reduce the appearance of imperfections when applied topically.
Tangerine – Tangerine is known for its cleansing properties, with its uplifting aroma, it is perfect for face and body scrubs.

Other oils that are great to use for ageing skin are:

Lavender – is frequently used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections, ease skin irritations and soothe inflamed skin
Geranium – promotes the appearance of clear, healthy skin. The ancient Egyptians used Geranium oil to beautify skin and for other benefits
Lemon – may help to lighten dark spots, and is used as a natural cleanser.
Myrrh – is soothing to the skin—promoting a smooth, youthful-looking complexion. It may also help boost skin strength.
Rosemary – acts as a natural preservative, and helps to tighten the skin. Rosemary includes the chemical constituents 1,8 Cineole and alpha pinene, which are generally known for their renewing properties.

It is important when making your own products to store them correctly. I store mine in an airtight glass container. This is because some plastics will erode when using essential oils, so a glass is the preferred storage option.

It is also worth noting that, in general, homemade products do not have any synthetic preservatives in them, so please use common sense and use them up quickly. Salt is a natural preservative, so this scrub should last a good week or so, but always still use your best judgement.
