Beef Stroganoff was something I always used to cook from a packet. I’d buy the seasoning and then cook it from that – always. Never, ever did I make it from scratch. So, basically, we hadn’t had beef stroganoff for years – because I no longer use packets.

I then realised our easy it was to make from scratch! Our goal is to get families using fewer packet mixes and eating more real food – and OMG this dish is so EASY!!! Like so easy, I have no idea why I ever used a seasoning packet in the first place.

Ingredients

  • 600 g diced beef
  • 1 brown onion, peeled and diced
  • 2 c sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. seeded mustard
  • 1 tbsp. beef bone broth powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp. cornflour
  • 1/4 c water
  • 1 c sour cream

Instructions

  1. Add everything, except sour cream, to a slow-cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  2. Approx. 1 hour before serving, mix in the sour cream and cook for the final hour.
  3. Serve with mashed potato and steamed veggies, boiled pasta, or cooked rice.
