This bacon salt is so good on roasted vegetables, over pancakes (weird, but trust us it works), chicken and believe it or not – popcorn!  It gives this lovely bacon flavour that just works.

Ingredients

  • 1 rashers nitrate-free bacon
  • 1/2 c pink or sea salt

Instructions

Thermal Cooking Method

  1. In a frying pan over medium-high heat, cook bacon until just under crisp. Allow to cool then place in a dehydrator at 60°C for 6 - 8 hours or until completely dehydrated (this may take longer depending on the thickness of the bacon).
  2. Allow to cool, then place dehydrated bacon in a thermal mixing jug and blitz for approx 30 seconds/speed 8 until fine in texture.
  3. Add salt and mix for approx 10 seconds/speed 2 until well combined.

Traditional Cooking Method

  1. In a frying pan over medium-high heat, cook bacon until just under crisp. Allow to cool then place in a dehydrator at 60°C for 6 - 8 hours or until completely dehydrated (this may take longer depending on the thickness of the bacon).
  2. Place dehydrated bacon in a food processor and blitz on high until fine texture.
  3. Add salt and mix on low speed until well combined.
