Ingredients

  • 1 brown onion
  • 6 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 apple
  • 2 carrot
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 1/2 c breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp. tomato sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp. cracked pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)
  • 1 packet sausage mince or 500g pork & veal mince
  • 5 g olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • chia seeds to sprinkle on top of sausage rolls

Instructions

Thermal Cooking Method

  1. Preheat oven to 190ºC. Blitz onion and garlic 3 seconds/speed 7. Scrape and repeat. Cook 3 minutes/100ºC/speed 3 in olive oil.
  2. Add veggies into mixing jug and chop 5 seconds/speed 6.
  3. Add mince along with everything else and mix 10 seconds/speed 4/reverse. You may need to use the spatula to push the mixture down while mixing.
  4. Cut sheets of pastry in half. Then place the mixture down the centre of each half. Roll into sausage roll shapes. Use a small amount of milk to help the pastry stick together. Baste top with a little milk or egg wash and sprinkle with chia seeds.
  5. Line a baking tray and cook for approx. 15-20 minutes until golden.

Traditional Cooking Method

  1. Preheat oven to 190ºC. Mince garlic and finely dice onion and saute in olive oil until translucent, then place into mixing bowl.
  2. Finely dice or grate veggies and add to mixing bowl with garlic and onion.
  3. Add mince to mixing bowl and mix all ingredients until well combined. You may need to use your hands for this.
  4. Cut sheets of pastry in half. Then place the mixture down the centre of each half. Roll into sausage roll shapes. Use a small amount of milk to help pastry to stick together. Baste top with a little milk or egg wash and sprinkle with chia seeds.
  5. Line a baking tray and cook for approx. 15-20 minutes until golden.
