These grain free steak burgers are a real twist on your traditional wheat burgers.  In fact, they are more like fritters and you need to eat them with a knife and fork but it still got the thumbs up from hubby.  This meal is super filling and something we’ll have again.

Tip: you may need 3 eggs for this recipe depending on the size of the sweet potato

Ingredients

Bun Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 2 egg
  • 3 tbsp. coconut flour
  • 1 handful of parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. tumeric
  • 2 pinches salt

Filling

  • 4 sizzle or sandwich steaks
  • 1 egg
  • lettuce
  • 1 beetroot
  • 1 carrot

Instructions

Thermal cooking method

  1. Start by making the mixture for the grain free 'buns'.
  2. Grate the sweet potato then tip into mixing jug with the rest of the bun ingredients.
  3. Mix on reverse 10-20 seconds/speed 3, until all ingredients are mixed together well.
  4. Heat a frying pan with some coconut oil. Once the oil is hot, add a spoonful of mixture and flatten it out. Repeat this until all the 'buns' are cooked. Pop them into a warm oven until ready to serve (around 150ºC).
  5. Prepare the salad ingredients in between flipping and cooking the buns.
  6. Cook the steak next, and when done allow to rest under some foil for at least five minutes.
  7. While the steak is resting, assemble the burgers.
  8. Hold the burger together with a kebab stick and serve. These are great with a side of chips.
