Before going additive free, I used to think that buying subs was a much better choice over the takeaway burger, but I soon realised that this wasn’t the case.
According to the ingredients listing, click on the Products Ingredients Guide PDF(and depending what you order), you could be consuming anti caking agents, emulsifiers, preservatives, food colours and more…well not on my watch! And hang on a minute, don’t they bake their rolls from scratch each day, so why the need for preservatives???
Then let’s look at the meatballs – more preservatives, more food colours, more thickeners and, wait for it…Hydrolised Vegetable Protein (this little gem is often referred to as the cousin of MSG)!
Yep, basically we have been duped into thinking that the average salad and meatball sub is a better choice….but don’t be fooled any longer. Be aware of what you are eating, your health is worth it.
It is super easy to make your own, have a stock of our meatballs on hand in the freezer, reheat them and fill your fresh bread roll…winner, winner, love my dinner!
