Embrace The Film

Embrace is a social impact documentary that explores the serious issue of body loathing, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves and think about our bodies. Released in 2016, this film is relevant, relatable, highly engaging – but above all life-changing.

Nominated for the Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Best Documentary, Embrace has been seen by millions of people across the world and has created a ripple of positive change.

The documentary was supported by 8909 KickStarter pledgers who responded to the fundraising trailer released in 2014. The trailer has now had over 45 million views.

We highly recommend you watch the documentary, Tracey has seen it 3 times and loved it every single time and took in more info the more times she saw it.

It’s available on iTunes, or you can check out how to watch it >>> here.

Embrace You

After watching Embrace The Film so many women came to Taryn and said that they wanted to embrace their bodies but they just didn’t know how.

So, from there Embrace You was born.

Embrace You is a 4-week online program to teach you how to embrace your body.  It’s not a diet or weight loss program, it’s about learning unconditional love for your body and having a better relationship with it.  Your mindset doesn’t change overnight, it is a process.  To ensure you can refer back to the program materials when needed, Taryn has ensured that you get them for life.

We weren’t born thinking that we hate our bodies.  It’s a learned behaviour which means we can unlearn the really unhelpful behaviours that don’t serve us.

If you want to learn more or register for the upcoming round of Embrace You which starts on Tuesday 16 July 2019 then register >>> here.  Places are limited so get in quick to secure your spot.

Jo has done this course and highly recommends it.

Taking care of yourself

Let’s make the point clear that embracing your body doesn’t mean you sit on the couch eating 20 doughnuts and not caring about the consequences, it’s about a balanced lifestyle and respecting your body.

You can be fit and healthy without having to be waif thin like the images we are bombarded with on a daily basis across all media platforms.

All research shows, and it is common sense too, that you can’t look after something that you don’t love.  So if you don’t love your body then you’re not looking after it.

When we talk about things like the obesity epidemic, we need to come at it from a different perspective.

It’s taking the shame away so that you’re free to live a rich and full life because all those self-limiting beliefs that have become ingrained in us have gone.

The more you can get in a better headspace about your body, the more your body will achieve because you are loving and respecting it.

Each and every single body is different and unique.  We all come in different shapes and sizes and that is the case from birth.  We are not all meant to be the same and look the same.

The way that society values beauty and puts it up on a pedestal is all wrong.  Beauty is not about what’s on the outside or the overall look of a person.  Beauty comes from within having traits such as kindness, humility and compassion.

If a friend loses weight, Taryn doesn’t even mention it because it doesn’t factor on her radar.  She embraces her friend for who she is, not the weight she was or now is.  She advocates for the theory that we should NEVER mention someone’s weight again.  Yes, it’s controversial because if we see someone who has lost weight we usually comment on how great they look, but at the end of the day, it shouldn’t matter.  You love your friend or family member for who they are and not what they look like.

Tracey is a big advocate for this, she couldn’t care less what you look like she cares about the person you are inside.

Embrace Kids

Embrace Kids is the next step in Taryn’s Embrace journey. Recent studies suggest that body image is the no.1 issue affecting our children so let’s be part of the solution.

Embrace Kids will explore the relationship children have with their bodies, why so many boys and girls hate their bodies and what we can do about it. The film will cover topics including social media, photoshopping, ‘fitspiration’, the influence of media and advertising on body image and role models.

The film will be created for 8-12-year-olds and given to schools across the globe as a FREE resource to educate the next generation to embrace their bodies. You could be part of this solution.

Because image is the no. 1 issue affecting kids in Australia, by the time kids get to around 15 years of age, they are most likely already hating their bodies.  Based on this, Taryn has aimed the documentary at 8-12-year-olds so that they can learn to embrace their bodies from a younger age.  This will hopefully mean that by the time they get to their mid-teen years and are bombarded about body image from media and advertising, their headspace is in a better place to drown it all out and be comfortable within themselves.

We know when people come together to support a common goal, magic happens. That’s why Taryn’s set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to make the Embrace Kids documentary. Once the film is made, she will be giving it away to schools across the world as a free resource.

So far, they’ve raised over $50,000 towards the $250,000 goal. “If everyone does a little no one has to do a lot”, so please get involved and support Embrace Kids.
